6月26日 第一篇augArgument2: The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres(D.A) to all homeowners in D.A.
"seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville(B) community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in B. In order to raise property values in D.A, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting."
In this argument, the arguer recommends that in order to raise property values, D.A's homeowners should adopt their own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting. In support this recommendation, the arguer cites a example about B, in where the homeowners adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be and what colors the exeriors of homes should be painted seven years ago, and then, property values have tripled in there. However, this argument is problematic for several critical flaws. First, the arguer assumes that the restrictions on landscaping and housepainting is the only reason for the significant increasing of property values in B in last several years. This assumption is obviously unconvincing. The arguer ignores many other possibilities: perhaps people suddenly discovered the potential of reality in B, or the environment in B was getting better for people living, and so forth. Unless the arguer provide evidence to rule out other possible causes ,the assumption is entirely unwarranted. Secondly, even if the restrictions is the only cause of the growing of property values, the argue also cannot assume that the situation in D.A is the same as it in B. Yet, the letter contains on evidence to support this assumption. Lacking such evidence it is equally possible that people in A.D ,in fact, do not care about what color of the house should be painted and what kind of plant are there in the yard. Actually, they may more concern about the practicability of houses. In addition, the example about B which the arguer cites comes from seven years ago .As we all know, everything may change especially in such a long time. Perhaps such restrictions on landscaping and housepainting now, already, not have attraction ,or maybe people is not interest in real estate no matter what restrictions you would adopt. To sum up, the argument is not well reasoned. To make it logically acceptable, the arguer would have to provide evidence to rule out other possible causes of growing property values in B. Additonally, the arguer must demonstrate the method which was used in B seven years age is absolutely useful in today's D.A. 6月17日 处子作! 写作水平巨菜 大家不要骂我 我会继续努力Advancements in a field of study and outside experts “No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study.”
I strongly agree the statement that it is very difficult for one field of study advance greatly without the knowledge and experience of outsiders. After all, every fields of study, in fact, will affront many problems which can only be solved by experts in other areas. Thus, using of the knowledge and experience of other areas is the key of getting progress. Turning first to chemistry. In the history of discovering elements, many significant discoveries, which exerted a vital influence on the realm of chemistry, owed to using of physical techniques and theories: alkali metals were discovered because batteries were invented and use in chemistry experiments; the discovery of the elements Rb. and Cs. was attributed to the technique advancement in the realm of optics; the radioactive elements were detected under the direction of radioactivity theory. By contrast, before these new physical techniques and theories were used, these new elements could never be detected by the traditional approaches in chemistry. Turning next to archeology. As we all know, any of excavations of a big tumulus could make a significant contribution in archeology. Admittedly, archeologists’ professional knowledge and technique should not be overlooked. After all, these discoveries about ancient civilization belong to the area of archeology. But, in my observation, a excavation of a tumulus cannot operate only by archeologists, but also by the expertise of biologists, chemists, geologists and so forth. By analyzing the rocks and dust, geologists can determine the age of the tumulus; and by analyzing the hair, skin, and bones of the body, biologists and chemists could find more information about ancient human beings. In a word, because of outsiders’ knowledge and experience, tumulus take on great value for archeology. Finally, examples of the area of medicine also aptly illustrate this statement. In medicine, the various equipments which developed by techniques and theories of physics, biochemistry, and optics, can help curing diseases more quickly and efficiently. Without these equipments, medicine may stop developing and stay a low level; people may still be afraid of normal diseases, such as rheum, diarrhea and so forth, and beg for gods’ help. In sum, every fields of study are not unaided. They must have some sorts of relations. To get progress in any one area we must need helps come from other areas. Moreover, the outsiders could make the progress have more comprehensive meanings. 终于还是回来了... 好像是有一年多冒来过了
